Tea Time

Here's a look at what I wore to a tea yesterday given by my grandmother in honor of me going to college soon!
I wore an Ark & Co. yellow rose print strapless dress and wedges. I wore the yellow dress because of Baylor University's colors-where I will be attending college! (the colors are green & gold)

I love this dress because of the color and the pockets! All day I kept my lipgloss and phone hidden in them. I think a dress with pockets is a good investment!

One of my presents from yesterday was a pair of green Kendra Scott earrings and matching necklace. They went perfectly with my yellow dress & my school colors!

Pure, White, & Simple

This is a very simple outfit from last night: white lace top, jean shorts, and sandals. Summer time in Dallas means hot weather and shorts-and I was going to a casual dinner so this was perfect for the occasion and the weather. I polished it off with a hot pink and turquoise statement necklace-of course!

I ate at this awesome BBQ restaurant in Dallas called "Smoke". It is seriously the best and I highly suggest if you are ever in the mood for good Texas BBQ, go to Smoke! It is right next door to the Belmont Hotel, a gorgeous Dallas historic landmark. It is seriously so beautiful! We had drinks on the patio of the hotel(seen in this picture above) then we walked over to the restaurant to enjoy beef brisket and ribs! YUMMM!!!

This necklace is my absolute favorite! It can make something like this white lace top have the prettiest pop of color.

Top: Forever 21, Shorts: Hollister, Sandals: Tory Burch, Necklace: Kenze Panne,
Bracelets: David Yurman & Kenze Panne, Bag: Louis Vuitton

Here's a picture of the Smoke sign. It was so beautiful that I had to snap a pic!
Go check it out!

Crop Top Talk

Here is a look at what I wore to a family dinner last night at Fireside Pies-my favorite restaurant in Dallas, Texas.
I paired a black short-sleeved crop top with bright colored palazzo pants and wedges. I kept it very simple with little jewelry because I wanted the crop top to be the main statement.
This is a look I love because a crop top can turn any every day outfit to something with a little edge.

Crop tops can be tricky-if you're like me then you like the look but don't want to show a whole lot!
So I would suggest wearing pants or bottoms that are high-waisted (like the ones I'm wearing) because you don't want to show too much! As you can see, only a sliver of my stomach is showing instead of the whole thing.

Crop top- Target, Palazzo pants-Paradise , Wedges- Dolce Vita, Jewelry- David Yurman & Kenze Panne

The Statement Necklace

I was in my favorite jewelry showroom, Kenze Panne, the other day at the Dallas Market Center and it was full of some of the most beautiful pieces- from small necklaces to huge ornate earrings- they were so sparkly and colorful I just wanted everything! The best part was everything is organized by color….which all of us girls know is like shopping heaven. Seriously when I walk into a store and everything is organized by color I just want to buy everything. I was overwhelmed by all the pretty statement necklaces-they had hot pink, coral, neon green, bright turquoise, and all were adorned with crystals and pearls. It was amazing what all they had and I couldn’t decide which style I wanted. I kept asking myself “what would I wear with this?”
I feel like this is a common attitude with statement necklaces or just jewelry in general. Here is how I deal with this daily shopping struggle:
1
. “What can I wear with this piece?”
-Anything! If it’s a bright color try wearing all one solid color, preferably all white or black(if you do all pink or all blue it might be too much)
2.    If getting a multi-colored necklace stresses you out too much then try on something that’s all pearls or crystal.  Or a solid colored top/dress so the necklace really stands out. I bought a necklace with tortoise shell pendants that had crystal-like flowers on top. (see below)
3    If you happen to own a patterned top or dress(for me maybe a cheetah or snakeskin top)that would be perfect with a multicolored necklace.

My point is don’t miss an opportunity to get a really colorful necklace just because you don’t know how to work it-but at the same time don’t make a hasty decision on what piece you want to buy!
When I find more I'll be sure to share them for more tips and ideas!

Here are some statement necklaces I have purchased recently. The one to the left is the tortoise shell I mentioned above and the one on the right is a blue necklace that I like to wear with patterned and solid tops/dresses.
